Error 0x80070001 while activating Microsoft Office

1.     This issue can first of all occur due upper filter entry missing in the registry for HDD.
Launch registry editor and go to the following key: HKLM\System\CureentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}, double click the "UpperFilters" entry and add "PartMgr" value without quotes and click OK.

2.     It can also be caused due to a malware/rootkit infection.

Download TDSSKILLER from Kaspersky and run it. In some cases you may have to run scan using Kaspersky Rescue Disk.
