Reset Windows Media Player

How to reset Windows Media Player


Step 1:
  • Close Windows Media Player.
  • Launch Control Panel, select "Administrative Tools" and then click "Services". Find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service, open it and click on Stop to stop the service.
  • Open the following folder "c:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Media Player\".
  • Move all the files from this folder to a new folder on your desktop.
  • Restart Media Player and check if it works fine or not.
Step 2:
  • Launch cmd as an administrator and run the follwoing command:
    net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
  • Restart the computer after running the command and check Media Player.
Step 3:

Uninstall Media Player
  • Click on the start button and search for "Windows Features"
  • Select "Turn Windows Features on or off".
  • Navigate to the Media Features and uncheck "Windows Media Player".
  • Click ok and restart the computer once the process is done.
Reinstall Windows Media Player
  • Launch Windows Features panel.
  • Navigate to the Media Features and check "Windows Media Player".
  • Click ok and restart the computer.
Check if it is working fine or not.
