Reset Windows Media Player
How to reset Windows Media Player
Step 1:
- Close Windows Media Player.
- Launch Control Panel, select "Administrative Tools" and then click "Services". Find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service, open it and click on Stop to stop the service.
- Open the following folder "c:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Media Player\".
- Move all the files from this folder to a new folder on your desktop.
- Restart Media Player and check if it works fine or not.
Step 2:
- Launch cmd as an administrator and run the follwoing command:
net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add - Restart the computer after running the command and check Media Player.
Step 3:
Uninstall Media Player
- Click on the start button and search for "Windows Features"
- Select "Turn Windows Features on or off".
- Navigate to the Media Features and uncheck "Windows Media Player".
- Click ok and restart the computer once the process is done.
Reinstall Windows Media Player
- Launch Windows Features panel.
- Navigate to the Media Features and check "Windows Media Player".
- Click ok and restart the computer.
Check if it is working fine or not.
Update error Code 8024800A
Windows Updates fails with Error Code 8024800A
The following error message occurs when the download is
corrupt or the information for the following update is not available. In order
to fix the following, launch cmd as administrator**, and run the following
commands (hit enter after each command):-
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren c:\windows\softwareDistribution SD.old
ren c:\Windows\System32\catroot2 cr.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren c:\windows\softwareDistribution SD.old
ren c:\Windows\System32\catroot2 cr.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Now, try installing the updates. Let us know through the
comments section if there is any error message after running the commands.
**Right click cmd and select Run as Administrator.
Unable to create a folder
Option missing to create a new folder
or a folder is not created when clicked on it.
A lot of times due to some third party application or a malware the
registry key for creating a new folder is modified or deleted due to which
either we are unable to create a new folder or the option to create one is
missing. In order to restore the setting, merge the following registry content by saving the same on a notepad as folder.reg:

You would be required to restart the computer in order to see the

Deleting and Creating User accounts in Windows 8
How to Delete and Create User accounts in Windows 8
To create User account, launch the charms bar, select “settings”
and then select “Change PC settings”. Now, navigate to the “Users” option and
click on “Add a User” under Other Users section. From here you can create a new
user account either a Microsoft Account i.e. linked with your live ID or the
local account (legacy).
In order to delete a user account you do not have to go the
same location i.e. from where we created a user account but this time we will
go to control panel**, select User Accounts and then click “Manage Another
Account”. From here we can select the user account to be deleted and remove it.
**You can launch control panel by right clicking on the bottom left corner of your desktop (i.e. where the start button used to be in earlier OS).

Repair Install of Windows 8 Pro Media Center
How to run Repair Installation on Windows 8 Pro with Media Center.
As the DVD or the installation files are not present for Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, we have different option to run repair install.
1. Launch Registry Editor and navigate to the following location: "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion"
2. Change the Edition ID from "ProfessionalWMC" to "Professional". Change the Product Name from "Windows 8 Pro with Media Center" to "Windows 8 Pro"
3. Now, your computer will be internally identified as Windows 8 Pro even though the System Properties will show it as Windows 8 Pro with Media Center.
4. Restart the computer and repair install using Windows 8 Pro disc or downloaded ISO file.

2. If you want to view the same Interface as of Windows 7, open the sources folder and double click "setup.exe" file. For the Windows 8 way, run the setup.exe from the root folder.

4. Do not check for new updates as it is not required.
5. Select the option : "Upgrade" and the installation (repair) will start. For the users who are running setup from the root folder, select keep applications, system files and personal files.
